The tower at Limeni was raised in the year of Adam Adamantios Korais's birth, by a branch of the Mavromichalis clan known locally as the Stathopoulakis line. For three hundred and forty-eight years it served as fortress, granary, family seat, and finally as a roofless ruin. In 2018, Stamatis Stathopoulakis — a fifth-generation descendant — returned with his wife Bianca Conti and the master mason Petros Lyrakos to begin a restoration that took four years, three families, and one cypress tree.
